I played Runescape for many years and something their company does to keep players excited is giving them a sneak preview on things to come in the next month. I think that is a wonderful idea, and I have decided to do the same here on The Gold Storm. So every month I will be releasing one of these posts to put out updates on what I have planned. I think this will not only help motivate me, but it allows the readers to hold me accountable for the content they want. Without further ado, lets Jump in!
Thank You All!
I want to start off by saying January has been a fantastic month. I started this blog on December 31st, and in that time we have moved sites, seen over 2000 unique visitors, and had over 5000 page views! Very Inspiring. I started the youtube channel, and while it has been scarce as to content, I have tons of videos planned. I have met dozens of new and wonderful people since starting, and I have had a blast playing WoW and working hard to produce useful information to help everyone make more gold. I want to thank everyone who has even loaded up any of my pages and everyone who has left me feedback or shared the posts. A special thanks goes out to my friends Bãel and Tremor who have helped me out with the blog whenever they can, providing critiques, images, and spell checking.
New Guides
Thanks to all the support and constructive criticism, I will begin February by posting a new skill guide for a profession. Throughout the month there will also be at least two more! Using professions is a part of gold making that I enjoy the most. I hope to be maxing my 14th profession this month! Every profession in wow makes gold in one form or another and if you know what you are doing you can make gold easily doing them. In February I will be releasing guides for Alchemy and Blacksmithing, as well as expanding from the Shuffle to include a full Jewel Crafting guide. If you have a profession you would like to see a guide on, be sure to let me know and maybe you will see it next month!
Updating Older Posts
Some of the first posts I made were truly walls of text with no real meaty information in them. This month I will be revisiting some of these posts and adding more useful information in order to teach you more. I will definitely be updating the Bank Alts and The Tillers Articles to be more useful. I don’t want you to read them and be disappointed that there’s really nothing useful in them to help you make more gold, so those will be my first targets.
More Videos
We all know that reading gets a bit arduous over time, and there are just some things that you need to see first hand in order to fully understand. Well, in February I have at least 2 beginner videos planned. The first will be an in depth guide to using auctioneer. Auctioneer is a great tool to use in gold making, and it has made me thousands of gold in my time playing WoW, but it can be a bit confusing and hard to use at first. I don’t want anyone to have that problem. The second video will be an in depth guide to structuring yourself to make your gold making endeavors a bit easier. These videos may not be quite up your alley, but I really want to have a foundation from which new gold makers can start from.
Our first e-Book
In my quest to provide the best free information I can to you, I will be releasing my first ebook. This book will be tied to the newsletter. I really want to have means to distribute this great information, and I feel the best way to keep people coming back for more is to have a delivery system that never goes out of date. I will be releasing a copy of this ebook to everyone who joins our newsletter here. I don’t sell anything in the newsletter, I just send you some free information every week for helping you to make more gold while playing WoW so there’s no risk, and if you just want the ebook, you can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. I highly recommend staying subscribed though because near the end of the month our newsletter subscribers are getting first dibs on my WoW gold making projects.
My First Addon (Beta)
That’s right, I have delved into the world of addons, and I must say I am quite enjoying it. Near the end of February, I will hopefully be releasing the Beta version of my first addon. I don’t want to give too much away on it right now, but I think it is something that quite a few of you would enjoy. I know its an addon that I wanted badly and since I couldn’t find one perfect for the job, I’m building one. I say hopefully it will be in beta version by the end of the month, but as it will take a lot of my time to code, I can’t personally guarantee it. The Beta version is going to be a very special project that I want the best quality feedback I can get, so I will only be releasing details through my newsletter when it is ready. Of course, it will be available through curse, but subscribers will be the first ones to try it out, and who knows, if you have a good suggestion, you could see your ideas in the final release.
Coming Soon
Something I have touched base on with a few parties is my desire to develop web applications that can make gold making easier. The first incarnation of the endeavor will be based off of Stedes’ Shuffle Spreadsheet, and my personal Blacksmithing Calculator. Not everyone has excel installed, and asking someone to license it for playing WoW is a bit absurd. I’m not saying anyone has done that, but the point remains the same. I also have no desire of releasing a Java program to the masses with all of the potential backlash from that whole ordeal, so I have decided to design a web app basis for these tools.
It won’t require any downloads, any software, or any commitment, and it will be completely free. This is probably the most massive project I have planned for the foreseeable future and as such, will not be ready to release this month. Due to the sensitive nature of this particular project it will need to be tested prior to its release, and I will be in need of Beta testers. Keep your eyes peeled as I hope to have this project in testing by the end of this month or early March. This opportunity will first be provided to members of our newsletter as well, so if you haven’t signed up yet, join today!
We had a great month in January but we have to always strive to do better. February is shaping up to be the month that really starts a year full of gold, and I hope you will join me. Once again, thank you to everyone for their support as I stepped into this world, I think we are all going to have a wonderful year here at The Gold Storm.
You sound like you’re going to be busy. Can’t wait to see some of the things you’ve outlined above!
