I’ll Be back Soon!

Hi guys, I’m sorry the blog has been so dead these last few weeks, I am going through a lot of personal things ATM, and I have not been able to devote any time to the blog, or even WoW for that matter. I will be back as soon as I can. So stick with me and I’ll make it up to you!

Monthly Income Report Jan 2013

4 4 Comments

So after browsing around Phat lewts’ Gold Blog, I saw that he does a wonderful chart on how much gold he has every week. I personally love this idea, and if you want to check out how he does it, you can view his gold total and his Weekly Lewt Review.  I said I loved his idea, but I decided I was going to do it a bit different. I have started tracking all of my income and investments for the entire month, and I am going to release a monthly report fully detailing all of my earnings and spending.  I will make a post for it each month after I get in all my totals. This will be a huge challenge, so it will probably be the first or second week of each month as this one is. If you want to track the rankings for each month so far, you can check out my Monthly Income Page.

For January  I have spent a large sum of gold on preparing for 5.2 as I predict the items I am investing in have huge potential returns with minimal risk involved, and I will be constantly investing until the patch releases. At the point where I move all my back stock following 5.2, I will release a special report on my total patch earnings to accompany my Patch Day Profits Guide. Forgive the amount of approximations, my plans for monitoring were not set from the beginning of the month, instead were begun around the 9th, so i have taken my data from profits and known variables to approximate more realistic investment numbers. Profiting with Blacksmithing

Blacksmithing

Blacksmithing is a profession near and dear to me. Mining and blacksmithing were the first two professions I ever maxed in WoW, and it was a pricey endeavor.  I didn’t know where to farm the materials for Blacksmithing because there weren’t addons and the tons of resources. But today, with websites like wow-professions and wowhead, and addons like gatherer, getting to that max level isn’t nearly the chore it once was. Today I am not going into how to level your professions, there are already ample places to find that information such as the wow professions mentioned above. Instead, what I am showing you today is how to profit with blacksmithing once you get it maxed.

First I want to note that if you don’t already have a miner, I highly recommend you get one. You don’t need to have them on the same character,  but you should at least have one as it will make obtaining the smelted bars I mention much easier. There are many ways to get a blacksmith making gold quickly. I feel like the simplicity of blacksmithing makes it a wonderful profession. Most of the raw materials used in blacksmithing are in high quantity on most every server, and thus the methods are readily available. Read More

Behind the Scenes February

1 1 Comment

I played Runescape for many years and something their company does to keep players excited is giving them a sneak preview on things to come in the next month. I think that is a wonderful idea, and I have decided to do the same here on The Gold Storm. So every month I will be releasing one of these posts to put out updates on what I have planned. I think this will not only help motivate me, but it allows the readers to hold me accountable for the content they want. Without further ado, lets Jump in!

Thank You All!

I want to start off by saying January has been a fantastic month. I started this blog on December 31st, and in that time we have moved sites, seen over 2000 unique visitors, and had over 5000 page views! Very Inspiring. I started the youtube channel, and while it has been scarce as to content, I have tons of videos planned. I have met dozens of new and wonderful people since starting, and I have had a blast playing WoW and working hard to produce useful information to help everyone make more gold. I want to thank everyone who has even loaded up any of my pages and everyone who has left me feedback or shared the posts. A special thanks goes out to my friends Bãel and Tremor who have helped me out with the blog whenever they can, providing critiques, images, and spell checking. Read More

Pandarian Shuffle: The Definitive Guide to the New JC Shuffle

Prospectinginventory

I have a wide variety of methods that I use to make gold in Wow, but by far, my favorite is what we call the “shuffle”. Many of you understand the principles of the shuffle, but for those who don’t, I’ll teach you everything from start to finish. This guide will be quite lengthy so If you find a part you need to work on, bookmark it and come back. I have put several hours into obtaining images and writing this post, so if it helps you or you enjoy it, take some time to share it wherever you prefer to share things.

First things first, the method I am showing you today will require a Jewelcrafter and possibly an enchanter. The enchanter is not so much required depending on your server, but I’ll get into that in a minute.  You will also need some start up capital. I usually invest about 10k when I do this, sometimes more, but not really any less than 1k. You CAN do this with little to no investment, but as with most things, the more you invest, the higher the returns. The JC shuffle can deal with some very large stack numbers, so I would advise planning ahead as far as space goes. Things can get crowded quite quickly when shuffling. Read More

Making Gold with Profession Cooldowns

Living Steel CD

As I have discussed in my other post choosing professions is a key part of playing wow. When I was choosing professions for my alts, I never bothered looking up what other professions received as bonuses that could generate more gold. I simply chose professions because I had a desire to bring everything in house, to be able to do everything myself. If I had been made aware of certain bonuses I certainly would have chosen much differently. I also have a tendency to forget my cool downs, so I have made a convenient list of cool downs that make gold daily in order of most to least profitable. Don’t forget, these are based around information I extrapolate from the few servers I play on, so it may vary for you. Always consult your auction house before making any final decisions. Read More

How to Make Thousands with the Darkmoon Fair

DF

The darkmoon fair has left the building, and I have moved myself squarely into a new market. Not only have I weaseled my way into making over 40k gold by buying 24 auctions, but I have seen the light, and the light is inscription! This past week I decided to invest a little chunk of my gold into something new. Now I don’t suggest dropping 35k into something you have never done before, but I felt the potential returns (200%+ ROI) outweighed the risk and threw caution to the wind as I bought 3 sets of serpent cards this week.

After talking to a friend who has experience in this market, and watching prices before the darkmoon fair I decided I could safely invest my gold into something new. With the lowest return possible being a nice 125% margin, I was excited, and as the fair comes to a close, over the next week, I think it is safe to say I will net about 200% returns and I intend to walk you through the process no matter what angle you decide to approach from! Auction House Tips: List Times

Auction house listing time

When listing up auctions, time is literally translated to money. If you list things up for 48 hours, what are the chances it will sit at that price and sell? Can you really be bothered to repost it every twelve hours? Am I participating in a cut throat market? These are all things we have to consider when we list our auctions, and I am going to give you five easy tips to make sure you are getting the most from your gold.

  1. Convenience – Convenience is a huge factor. If you are listing up many stacks of an item, or tens of items, can you really be bothered with putting them back up after twelve hours? If you spend 20 minutes listing glyphs every 12 hours, you could save an hour every two days if you just list them for 48 hours. Consider whats worth more, that hour, or the deposits that you might lose.
  2. Know the Market Speed – If a market is fast paced, listing at a reasonable price at 48 hours should never be an issue. If you are in the ores business, try listing for max time to determine what amount you can see moving and at what prices.
  3. Competition – Auctioneers run into this issue often, is my competition going to bother re-listing under me, or is he going to ride out his 48 hour auctions? Check competitors in your markets and see what time they list for to determine how stiff the competition may be in the next few days.
  4. Deposits – Consider the following, if I have an item that costs 4g per 12 hours, and it doesn’t sell 3 times, but sells on the forth, you could have listed it for 48 hours and gotten your deposit back without wasting 12g. Always think of the auction house as a money grubbing ex-wife, because it is.
  5. Think Ahead – If you know an extended maintenance is coming, don’t list for 48 hours, list for whatever will have your auctions down before the maintenance without losing valuable time listed. There’s no sense in paying for time that no one can even buy your items!

I hope you guys found these tips helpful! Go out there and put these to work in your auction house and let me know how it goes. If you have any tips you have found helpful, let me know in the comments bellow, and don’t forget, you can always find me on Twitter.

Guide to Picking Profitable Professions

Profs

Professions are one of the most lucrative opportunities in wow, and you don’t have to have an army of alts in order to make money using them either. I personally have 6 alts that have maxed professions and I am working on a seventh because I have a lot of free time, but its certainly not required. If you pick the right professions, there is no reason you can’t churn out gold by huge amounts, with just one maxed character, in fact that’s exactly where I started. I’m going to give you a break down of the professions to help you get the most out what you have time for. Read More

Getting Started Making Gold

0 No Comments

bags

I recently had a friend who has almost finished his first level through in Wow, and he asked me how to make gold. I thought about it, and I raddled off a list of things that he can do, and he immediately looked at me and said too little too late. I asked, “What do you mean?” to which he responded “I have already messed up all of those till now”. Sometimes we take for granted the simplest knowledge that we picked up along the way that many people figured out to late, or still may not know. One of the hardest parts of making gold in wow is just getting started. It was certainly the most difficult challenge for me to overcome when I first started. Getting started making gold varies greatly on several factors, your server, start up capital, your professions, your play style, and even how much time you have to play. I can’t possibly account for all of these factors, but what I can do is show you a few of the methods that I used to start making gold. Even if you know the ways to start, have a read through and see if we offer any other guides that can offer you more! Read More
